American Inventor-Greg Chavez

: American Inventor-Greg Chavez
I didn't get to see the show, but his little brother put the video on his blog.

Northstar Thinktank

What a moving story. I can't wait to get a "Guardian Angel" for my family's christmas tree.

Congratulations to Greg and family, and thank you for looking out for those of us with families to protect as well.

What a hero, huh? And now he's a Millionaire, too! This is the kind of thing that happens to people who never give up on their dreams.

100 Monkeys are jumping about, proud and elated to see another entrepreneur living his dream.

What's Your Dream? What will it be like when you're living it? How does it feel? Who will you be? Where will you live? What will you drive? What will your everyday routine be like?

Are you willing to fight for it for 15 years? It worked for Greg. Maybe you can stick with it, too.

Cure swollen feet-get a tattoo!

July 25th 2007 12:10
: The Cure for swollen feet-Get a tattoo!
When my son was born, 3 years ago, I suffered for weeks with feet that looked like sausages with toes poked into the ends. My ankles were so huge, with all the water, that I couldn't wear socks. This is no "poor me, look at how bad I had it" story, this is just what happens when a woman gives birth.

Anyway, when I had my daughter, I was prepared to be barefoot or in bedroom slippers for weeks, I thought I knew what to expect! She was born by C-Section, and so my Loving Mother, a Cosmetologist and Permanent Makeup Artist, Took 3 weeks off to come and help me out with Noah while I recovered.

Now, My wonderful Mother is the type who doesn't sit still for very long. Everybody knows that, including her, so she brought some of her "Toys" with her. A nice big vehicle for collecting Yard-Sale goodies, plenty of small change for flea markets and such, and her new-fangled Permanent Makeup set-up. I got the benefits.

Since we didn't have a chair or proper lighting, my creative and talented Mom fixed up the Next best thing. She had me lay upside down in a chair next to a window in the Morning Sunshine. It was perfect.

If you're not familiar with Permanent makeup, it's basically a tattoo. Well. Ok. It IS a tattoo. You can have eyeliner, eyebrows, lipstick, cheeks, shades and shadowing for problem areas, cover blemishes and scars, you name it. She decided to give me permanent Eye liner. I was thrilled, and willing to receive my very first tattoo for the sake of beauty.

It took about 2 hours, and it tickled more than it hurt. (she put a numbing agent on my eyelids) and I hummed just as loud as i could to keep from squirming. When things started to wrap up, she handed me the mirror, and I couldn't believe it. It was beautiful. I would wake up in the morning like the Movie Stars. Makeup already in place. But I was getting a little uncomfortable from being still so long, I really had to pee!

Once she gave the go-ahead to get up and go, I had to first have someone swing my legs off the back of the chair and onto the side. Since I couldn't use my stomach muscles, someone else had to lift my back up off the footrest, so I was sitting in a crunched up position, but I could just manage to get one leg off the armrest and onto the floor. The guy pushing up on my back helped me stand up, and I was off at a snails pace. Shuffling down the hall, taking those "Oh. Oh. Oh." so small steps toward the relief and respite of the restroom. I thought I would leave a streak down the hall. I have never had to pee so bad in all my life.

I made it to the bathroom (barely) and must have peed for an hour. But when I came out of the restroom, I looked at my feet, and they were no longer swollen! I expected the water had just drained temporarily, but I was wrong. They never swelled again. Gravity and time had worked a miracle, and I could once again tie my shoes.

So, next time you have swollen feet from water retention, get a tattoo! It's an amazing miracle cure!

Be the 100th Monkey

July 9th 2007 15:29
: How Many Monkeys Left?
Every day thousands of businesses across America close their doors. In each of those closed businesses, there is a dream that didn't take flight. Most of these businesses are started and ended within 2 years. It stands to reason that alot of people are going into businesses they have no business being in, but their drive to succeed and nurture a dream that won't die, clouds their judgment, and they do it anyway.

: Why is a British DJ calling MY house at 4am?
Neillong.com
The answering machine picked up without the phone even ringing. (It does that when the handset battery is completely dead). I looked at my husband, who never goes straight to the shower after work, but wants to see what I'm doing, and chat a bit first, and I said "Who is that calling here at 4 in the morning?" We speculated a few seconds about who it could be as the answering machine told the caller they had reached our number.

Brother-In-Law, maybe his car broke down? Step-Niece in jail? Mom Sick? We knew the kids were ok, they are in bed. As the message came to an end, and the long pause before it begins recording began, the room filled with an ominous, worry-filled aura. Mike and I looked at each other and waited

At warp speed

June 24th 2007 00:43
: Moving Right Along Now
I've been busy as a beaver. Publishing a new ebook, publishing placemats, reviewing products, and just causing dust clouds everywhere I go. There's always something else I need to do. Do you ever feel like that?

making new friends is also top of the list. at the Your Portable Empire University (which we've taken to calling the Yippee U) There are new people signing up and they are from different stages in the game. Some, like me, complete beginners, chomping at the bit to make their first dollar, although that has changed dramatically since I joined. But some seem to be pretty accomplished Web Marketers. There are people from all different backgrounds as well. Child Care, Travel, Real Estate, and Advertising, not to mention the Artists and Part Timers. All wonderful people, all putting forth a heckuva effort, and cheering each other on as we accomplish our various tasks. It's a good feeling

I was skeptical, I admit it.

There's a long standing feud that says, on the one hand, that Subliminal Messages don't work. On the other hand, they do. This series settled it for me.

It works. To see the full review, Go here.

Starting a business is a scary venture, but doing it with no startup capital is absolutely terrifying. I would have had startup money If I had waited until we filed our taxes, but I was going stir crazy after staying at home for 3 years. You can only handle so many Veggie Tales reruns til your eyes start to water at the mere mention of the name. I love my kids, and being a stay-at-home mom was great, but the Stay at home part gets old after a while.

It's been a real test of my abilities to stay positive. My wonderful husband has never had his own business, and he has worried and worried and questioned my judgement and just generally struggled with me, up until yesterday. I don't know what changed, but he finally just seemed to accept the fact that I've done this before. (Starting a business with no money that is

Can Technology Make You A Better Writer?

December 25th 2006 15:52
As a business woman, I often encounter opportunities to write. Emails, letters, Ad copy, and articles all require me to put down the to-do list, and focus long enough to make my thoughts permanent. Sometimes, in the process of writing, the phone will ring or something takes my attention away for a moment, and when I return to the project, I have lost the ability to think creatively, or the ability to put my thoughts into words. This was a huge problem for a while. However, I found an effective workaround.

Before I start an important writing project, I first state my intentions. What am I looking to accomplish with this task? Is it a sales letter? Do I want the reader to buy now, or simply request more information? If it's an email, I want it to appear personal, without going overboard, and add my intention statement, and theres' my task. Ad copy is a completely different animal, but still, I need to know what my intentions are. Brand Awareness? Complete a subscription form? Buy now? Request more info? All of this is taken into account before I write the first word
