Can EFT help your Marriage?
I've been studying the EFT videos, learning more and more about what EFT can be used for, and I've been pleasantly surprised. The motto that Gary Craig, founder of emofree.com shares is "Try it on everything" and now I know why. Sometimes, when you don't know what to do, and nothing else is helping, a few rounds of EFT can help.
For instance, My husband has some very irritating mannerisms. He sometimes says things in a way that makes me feel like I'm a little kid, and in big trouble. I hate that, and it makes me want to just scream. But I can't get him to stop doing it. It's kind of like someone telling me to stop daydreaming. It's part of who I am, and I don't know how to change it. I think that must be what it's like for him.
So how am I supposed to live with this guy, if he won't change his irritating behavior? I can't change him, and he has no desire to change himself-there's nothing I can do, and it looks hopeless. Right?
Well, maybe not. It happened again yesterday, and instead of having a screaming fit like I usually do, I hid in my daughters room and started tapping on how he made me feel. (Even though he treats me like a child, Even though I HATE him when he talks down to me like that, Even though I feel disrespected, like my opinions don't matter, etc) It took about 20 minutes, but I felt a lot better afterwards. But the craziest part is that after I did that, he started acting completely different. We actually had fun together. That never happens. Usually when I get that angry, I stay angry for hours. But this time, I got over it in less than an hour, and he apparently got over it as well.
There have been some other amazing things happen with EFT in our marriage, but I don't think it's appropriate to detail every one here. But I'm VERY pleased with the changes in both of us, and very grateful to have EFT as a tool, especially since neither of us really has the relationship skills we really need. Marriage counseling is still in the very near future, but with EFT, I'm certain that we'll make it, and it makes it fun.
I love this stuff.
